We started Capybara Gaming Co because we couldn't find a beach game worth playing.

Hi, I'm the person behind the brand — originally from Argentina, now proudly based in Australia. After two years of exploring beaches, parks, and backyards here, one thing became clear: the outdoor game market was full of plastic toys that broke after a summer and ended up in landfill.

I wanted something different. A game made from real materials, built to last, that you'd actually be proud to pull out at the beach. So I created it.

That's how our wooden Tejo set was born — lacquered timber discs, a metal carry handle, and a design that fits right into the Australian outdoors.

The name? A capybara is one of the world's most social animals — curious, calm, and always surrounded by others. That felt right for a brand built around bringing people together outdoors.

We chose "Capybara" over the Spanish name (carpincho) because, let's be honest, it's much easier to say at a BBQ. And that's exactly the vibe we're going for — easy, fun, and made for everyone.

Right now we make Tejos. But we're just getting started — more games are on the way. The goal is simple: build the kind of outdoor games that get passed down, not thrown out.
